17 Sep Independence celebration with underprivileged kids at Mehaan Charitable Foundation!
15 August 2014 Independence celebration with underprivileged kids at Mehaan Charitable Foundation!
Morning where we could see enthusiastic runners running for freedom run in DLF Phase V, we were setting up the mikes and tables for our the independence celebration. Children from slums seemed overexcited to see such arrangements done for them with music playing at our office lawn where we had planned the event.
It was time up but we were still waiting for few more kids to arrive, around 10:30 am we decided to fetch more kids from the slums on our own. We picked two of the kids who could lead us to find other kids. After 20 minutes we managed to get around 25 kids more packed in our car driven by our volunteer.
We began the ceremony by hoisting the flag. After that we proceeded the event, with little introduction about what is Independence Day, why we celebrate Independence Day, briefing the kids little facts about legendary freedom fighters and slogans given by them. By now kids were all full of energy and felt quite attracted towards the balloon decoration.
We encouraged them to sing songs, recite poems and dance. We were also joined by their volunteer teacher Ms.Vijaylaxmi, kids were exuberant and seeing them like this was a great experience altogether both for us at MCF and their volunteer teacher.
Finally we concluded the event by giving them snacks, set of stationery packs with chocos, Frooti’ s and tri -color kites to fly. It was an amazing experience for kids and for us. Mehaan Charitable Foundation believes in spreading happiness and smiles especially among the little angels who though deserve every bit of it can’t due to their financial limitations.
We are looking forward to start creative activities sessions for them with little safety and hygiene awareness tips, volunteers are most welcome!!
